Dr Vishal Mangalwadi is coming to Australia from the 8 – 16 October. He is an international lecturer, social reformer, political columnist, and author of 14 books. Vishal is a man with a prophetic voice and a compassionate heart. Some have called him the “CS Lewis of the East”. Born in India in 1949 he studied philosophy at universities, in Hindu ashrams, and at L’Abri Fellowship in Switzerland. In 1976 he turned down several job offers in the West to return to India where he and his wife, Ruth, founded a community to serve the rural poor. Vishal was put in gaol by corrupt provincial officials for his stand for the poor and for the truth. Undeterred Vishal continued his involvement in community development, serving at the headquarters of two national political parties, where he worked for the empowerment and liberation of the poor and lower castes.
Vishal’s first book, The World of Gurus, was published in 1977 by India's Vikas Publishing House, and serialized in India’s then-largest weekly, The Sunday. It was Mangalwadi’s books, In Search of Self and India: The Grand Experiment, that first brought his works to the attention of a broader readership. The book Truth and Transformation continued to garner him an even greater readership. In demand worldwide, Vishal is a dynamic, engaging speaker who has lectured in 35 countries. He enjoys simplifying complex ideas and inspiring despairing hearts with hope. Vishal’s latest book is about the Bible’s important place in history and is called “The Book that Made your World” published by Thomas Nelson.
Vishal and Ruth currently live in the United States. Vishal is deeply concerned that the West has abandoned its moral compass and is headed for a rapid decline. He is coming to Australia to better explain the truth found in his new book and try to warn us of the troubled times ahead and how to avoid them.
